    -Transformation of my PhD research project into a successful award winning startup. - An innovative microwave imaging startup, using Microwave imaging for biomedical applications such as breast cancer detection, brain stroke detection and classification, and bone fracture/lung lesion detection.-Winner of the first prize for the best start-up in Italy's Umbria region 2015 in addition to a special award by the jury.-Winner of the prize for 2nd best start up company in 2015, in Italy, amongst 500 entries, in addition to a special Award of the Ministry of Equal Opportunities "for the High Value Innovation".-Final 7 of the Global Social Venture competition in Milan.-Top 6 finalist in Hello Tomorrow competition in 2022 and 2023, among thousands of competing startups.-Clinical trials for breast cancer detction are currently ongoing, and the scans on 500 female patients tested so far have been successful.

    <>I worked on a large, multidisciplinary project aiming at developing and testing an innovative, automated energy control system to reduce energy in domestic environments.<>I developed software and hardware employing Ultra wideband technology for monitoring purposes. The developed software (written using a combination of MATLAB, C++ & SQL) collected and analyzed information regarding the occupancy/movement/activities in the house, and after data mining, processing and pattern recognition (machine learning), determines the exact number and location of the occupants at real time. This information was then amalgamated with information from sensors, actuators and smart metres to make an appropriate energy saving decision.<>Moreover I was involved in designing and building various Electronic sensors for measuring electricity/gas/temperature/boiler consumptions.<>I also had the opportunity to work on a joint R&D project with Hughes’ Electronics Company where we developed and tested the world’s first 5G compatible interference reducing connector for mobile devices.<>In addition to the above I also worked on several other research topics including developing imaging algorithms for use in skin cancer detection and was involved in Proposal writing for H2020 fundings.

    > This post-doc position gave me the opportunity to extend my research project of using microwave signals for developing novel methods for breast cancer detection. > My research involved mathematical modeling, algorithm development, computer simulations (using CST and MATLAB), and practical measurement for imaging and detecting human tissue properties.> Simulation and measurement results indicated that my new algorithm was capable of achieving as good and in some cases improved performance compared to current established imaging methods.> Joint teamwork research with two of the world’s pioneer groups in microwave imaging research (University of Bristol and University of Pisa).> My Teaching and supervision skills were further developed by working as a lab demonstrator, and by directly supervising two final year undergraduate students' projects, both of whom won the prize for the best Electrical Engineering project of the year.> During my PhD and post-doc stay at Oxford, I directly supervised two final year undergraduates' projects, both of whom won the prize for the best Electrical Engineering project of the year.> I supervised a further two final year undergraduates indirectly, by assisting them with their experiments and simulations.
