Clinical Mental Health Counseling Dept.

Clinical duties: build relationships with members telephonically to clinically manage and assume responsibility for complex cases involving members and family's members with serious mental illnesses such as bipolar or schizophrenia diagnoses; and med-psych cases that involve co-morbid illness where there is a physical and mental disorder happening at the same time by way of explaining the health plan services, completing intake and health assessments, providing treatment plans, and moving patients from illness into recovery phase. Document member information gathered and member progress utilizing electronic medical record system, MyEvolv. Administrative duties: Collaborate and act as the point of contact with health plan and network physicians to increase the integration of physical and behavioral health care by providing a one stop access point for member's behavioral health needs; direct behavioral health requests to the correct team/individual and report back to the health plan and/or physician practice on the status of those requests; and interact with facilities and other community resources to address individual member need and improve the service delivery system.

Responsible for review of clinical information received from Physicians and other Clinical providers ensuring clinical data is substantial enough to authorize services. Analyzes clinical information to ensure the services requested are authorized according to clinical protocols. Responsible for validation of member benefits for the services requested. Validates accuracy of insurance enrollment information in the system prior to authorizing services. Requires knowledge of managed care contracting, clinical protocols and clinical review requirements. Requires knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for government payers, self-funded and commercial payers. Ensures appropriate and accurate information is entered into claims system for processing of payment.

Clinical duties: completion of clinical assessments, including clinical interview, and diagnosis of mental disorders of inmates; provided direct clinical and consultation services to patients; provision of individual counseling to patients with the goals of reducing maladaptive behavior and fostering effective psychological functioning; provision of crisis intervention services to patients as referred by facility and medical staff or to self-referral inmates; provision of support and/or monitoring of patient's mental condition for institutional psychiatric staff; Administrative duties: coordination of behavior health services for local correctional facility; interrelated and worked effectively with facility staff, patients, and outside support agencies regarding management/treatment concerns, referral, and/or mental health follow-up; delivery of in-service training in human behavior and/or mental health issues to facility staff; completion of documentation in the mental health file of individual patient's treatment progress in progress note and of the goals for treatment in the individual treatment plan; completion of regular reports of behavior health activities in accordance with policies and procedures; participation in staff meetings and in-service training programs; maintained accountability for services provided through timely and accurate recording of activities and through participation in the Quality Improvement program.

Conduct individual, group, and family therapies; interview patients, referral sources, and significant others to obtain and document psychosocial assessment; facilitate didactic educational sessions; work with a interdisciplinary team to coordinate client treatment.
