Enhance my research publications i.e., book chapters, journal articles and a manuscript emanating from the doctoral research. Further, I organised History Access programmes and events amongst scholars to include community outreach (mainly in high schools); departmental reading groups and seminars particularly on vernacular archives and histories; workshops; and convening an annual conference all in a bid to make academic history accessible in public life.

Knowledge management i.e., the collation of End of Assignment Reports (EoARs); Organizational guidance i.e., Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Research; Organizational learning i.e. After-Action Reviews (AARs) and lesson’s learned (LLs) documents both within the Mission itself, and amongst the greater peacekeeping community. As UNAMID was at the end of its mandate, in a period of transition to UNITAMS, I supported the transfer of knowledge processes, in line with United Nations rules and regulations. As a Special Assistant, I supported the Chief of Staff as necessary particularly towards his diplomatic engagements e.g., with the Government of Sudan, and prepared research or document’s disseminated within the organization ultimately to Headquarters.

Planning, budgeting and programme management of the 2nd African Visionary Security and Leadership training programme run across several East African countries and convened at the Regional Institute for Gender, Diversity, Peace and Rights (RIGDPR) in Omdurman, Khartoum, with a core team. Conducted research. Fulfilled adjunct lecturing. Convened spaces of peer learning for students through brown-bag seminars.

Inter -Governmental Authority on Development – Conflict Early Warning and Response Network (IGAD-CEW ARN)Facilitated dialogue within IGAD’s larger network, to include the African Union amongst other key development institutions. I worked with the following IGAD member countries: Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, and Djibouti (headquarters). Rapporteur’ed high level stakeholder meetings for their new strategic plan and produced relevant reports, accordingly.

Managed the programmatic section of the organisation which focused on the provision of grants to women for their gender and human rights activism/advocacy, poverty alleviation projects, along with capacity building for these leaders. A huge part of grant making involved having fiscal knowledge of the organisation. I created annual financial plans and managed the programmatic budget (as head of programmes) and later the organisational budget (as interim director). I worked together with financial staff and human resources towards fulfilling this. Other roles included monitoring and evaluating, fundraising, organising women’s convenings, training, report writing and networking with the donor community and other key stakeholders towards branding the organisation.
