I retired after nearly fifty years in several high-technology industries. My career was mainly in corporate strategy and global business development and included managing functional groups such as; corporate strategic planning, business development, M&A, governmental & and regulatory affairs, and financial planning. I have been responsible for expanding domestic businesses internationally, forming international joint ventures and strategic partnerships, as well as initiating and closing M&A transactions throughout the world. I did several tours in General Management including tenures as; Group VP & and GM in the automotive service equipment industry; Owner/CEO of a Business Valuation and M&A consulting practice; and startup General Manager of an International Business Unit in the Cable TV equipment industry.I have a broad field of interest and have been called on many times in a variety of industries to analyze and evaluate; new business and market opportunities, acquisition prospects, and troubled business units or divesture situations. Before I retired my main research interests were technologies on the horizon that might have proven disruptive to the Cable TV industry, some of which have since emerged including; real-time targeted advertising and audience measurement; the challenges of managing "big data" collection, and analytics; developing technologies for authentication, identity, reputation, digital rights management, content security, search retrieval and many others. And, the implications of all these for consumer adoption and assurance of privacy. I have continued to follow developments in these areas and occasionally do consulting related to them.
