Dr. Percy holds a Bachelor's in Communication and Business Administration from Houghton College, an MBA from the University at Buffalo, and a PhD in Business from the University of Kentucky. He has over 30 years of professional, teaching, entrepreneurial, and administrative experience. Dr. Percy has taught leadership and management, business ethics, organizational behavior and development, HR, entrepreneurship, finance, research methods, marketing, and strategic management at several colleges and universities including the University of Kentucky, Liberty University, Transylvania University, Central Virginia Community College, King University, and Carson-Newman University. Prior to joining Carson-Newman, he was the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at King University, where he served for a total of 19 years in various roles and responsibilities. During his tenure with King, the college grew by over 400 percent. Dr. Percy is also a retired officer (Major) of the Tennessee Air National Guard at McGhee Tyson, Knoxville, where he led the Military Equal Opportunity office.

The Executive Vice President and Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and responsible for the planning, supervision, and administration of the university’s learning community. Provided responsible leadership for the faculty in establishing and maintaining a quality program of instruction and scholarship consistent with the educational objectives of the institution. Led Department and Program Chairs; Deans of Library, Global Education, Enrollment Management; Registrar; Student Success Center; Adult and Graduate Programs; and Directors of University Relations (Marketing and Communication), Bonner Center, and Institutional Effectiveness. Responsible to initiate policies, prepare budgets, and oversee the Vision 2020 Strategic Plan and implementation team. I am also the Ted Russell Distinguished Professor of Management, and continue to teach leadership and strategic management.

The Provost and VPAA of the University works extensively with the President, CFO and VPs for Administration, Enrollment Management, Students Affairs, and Marketing and Development to accomplish the strategic goals of King University. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs has broad responsibility for educational programs of the University, for the schools of the college, and for matters involving the faculty. Accomplishments:•Led the school through its 2009 re-accreditation with SACS-COC.•Served on off-site and on-site SACS review teams. •Led the college through a revision of the general education core curriculum based on measurable core competencies.•Revised the faculty evaluation system to improve its effectiveness as a tool for professional development.•Developed the Snider Honors program to foster academic excellence.•Developed the King College Academic Center for Excellence providing academic support services.•Developed new programs for Graduate and Professional Studies (on-ground and on-line), including an AAS, MBA, RN-BSN, BBA, Criminal Justice, Communication, and Psychology programs, creating over $10 in annual revenue.•Grew the college from 550 students in 2000 to over 2,400 students in 2013.•Developed off-campus site in Knoxville, TN.•Collaborated with Board of Trustees for planning purposes and strategic initiatives.•Developed numerous strategic partnerships with local industry, local governments, and community colleges in TN and VA.•Managed a $9.6 million expense budget. •Delivered the December 2008 and 2012 Commencement Address at King.
