Dr Pawan Jha has over 30 years experience and expertise in developing sustainable technologies, their implementation, monitoring & evaluation, training and capacity building in the fields of sanitation, septage management, biogas from human wastes and other wastes, decentralized waste water treatment, solid wastes management, in urban and rural areas in India and abroad. Wrote completemanuscripts of the books-(i) Technical options for solid and liquid waste management in rural areas and ((ii) and technical optionsfor on-sitesanitation in rural areas, released by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India. Worked as the Senior Technical Specialist (FSM, SLWM & toilet technology) with the PWC, Gurugaon, for the World Bank Project to provide Technical Support to the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, India, in implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission -Rural (SBM-G), program of the Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India. Under the assignment sustainable technologies for the faecal sludge management, innovative toilets for high water table, flood affected /water logged areas, decentralized waste water treatment and solid waste management are being implemented. He worked as a Consultant (Sanitation and Waste Management) Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Govt. of India. He wrote a book on Technical Options for on-site Sanitation for rural areas, released by the MoDWS in 2012 and “Technical Options for Solid and Liquid Waste Management in rural areas” released by the Ministry in 2015. Dr Jha developed /improved designs of toilet linked biogas plant that was approved by the MNRE,Govt. of India, He developed a technology of rapid composting of biodegradable wastes. He completed one assignment of technical assessment of rural sanitation program for West Bengal State, funded by World Bank.He conducted monitoring and evaluation of sanitation program of the Ministry of DWS- in several states of India. He prepared DPRs of septage management for three towns in Rajasthan funded by the ADB, Katihar Municipality, Bihar , BKT municipality Lucknow funded by Water Aid. Got an international Prize in July 2021, instituted by the WASTE Netherlands, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands, Aqua for All and Amreif Flying Doctors, for development of innovative and sustainable technology for toilet for high ground water and flood porne areas and its implementation. Dr.Jha provided complete technical support in implemeting two such toilets as demonstration in Bangladesh.
