Dr. Iyer brings over 30 years of experience establishing and leading technology and business transformation organizations in both the private sector and Government. He most recently served as the first global head of Public Sector for ServiceNow. In this role, Dr. Iyer established go-to-market strategies for public sector focused product development, marketing, sales, support, legal and compliance, and government relations with an emphasis on priority global markets. Previously he served as the first CIO of the United States Army where he established the new office of the CIO to oversee strategy, policy and execution of a $16 Billion annual IT and cyber budget supporting both Army readiness and modernization through digital transformation. Dr. Iyer has been successful in his professional career by building consensus among stakeholders through his ability to communicate effectively at leadership levels. He established the industrial base data strategy that would allow TACOM’s depots and arsenals to leverage and re-use authoritative data for depot maintenance and manufacturing processes that put the organic maintenance and manufacturing capabilities on par with the private sector. Dr. Iyer provided oversight for data migration at 8 primary US sites and an ERP implementation that spans 80 worldwide sites. He was responsible for the execution of shop floor automation strategies including Manufacturing Execution System and Automated Identification Technology for the organic industrial base. In partnership with OSD, ASAALT and platform OEMs, Dr. Iyer led the planning and implementation of the DoD's first Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system to manage product lifecycle data. Dr. Iyer led a team of 25 engineers and numerous contractors to implement pilot projects on major weapon systems including the HMMWV, Bradley, Stryker and MRAP. He pioneered the use of Model Based Definition initiatives that use 3-D solid models as the authoritative source of product definition and the use of this definition across all lifecycle functions in engineering and logistics (known as the "digital thread" today). Dr. Iyer established a product data interoperability strategy for the Army that leveraged open data standards and through multiple projects validated how product data could be leveraged by the entire DoD supply chain to include DLA. Dr. Iyer served as the Army's lead for product data standards and represented the DoD as a voting member to the ISO standards body. He served as a member of the Executive Board of the PDES consortium to bring Government and industry together on interoperability. Dr. Iyer was also a vocal advocate of the Army retaining rights in technical product data on weapon systems. His efforts led to sweeping reform by the Secretary of Defense and changes to Army policy as it relates to assessing technical data rights during acquisition. -
