Dr. Iyer currently serves as an advisor to defense and education tech startup companies on their product and go-to-market strategies in the public sector. He brings deep insights into the public sector market globally enabling seed/ Series A funded companies to establish their product and revenue growth roadmaps.

Dr. Iyer served as the head of the Global Public Sector business for ServiceNow - a Silicon Valley based Fortune 500 enterprise cloud software company. In this newly established role, Dr. Iyer provided oversight and integrated product development, marketing, sales, support, legal and compliance, and government relations for large global public sector clients with an emphasis on developing go-to-market strategies and plans for the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. He sponsored and advocated cross-functional integration to address the unique public sector, legal and regulatory requirements for cloud-based enterprise software, infusing deep public sector expertise across global Go-to-Market teams, aligning geographies with shifting technology, market, and procurement trends. Dr. Iyer developed global alliances and partner ecosystems for the public sector worldwide, and served as a coach to public sector CXO executives on digital transformation. Under his leadership, the public sector industry grew faster than the rest of the company by exceeding sales goals in every quarter. Dr. Iyer sponsored and championed investments focused on public sector products for Generative AI and regulated cloud solutions for global markets. He provided leadership to 3 Vice Presidents and a direct staff of about 35 personnel.

Dr. Iyer served as the first civilian CIO of the United States Army responsible for the US Army's IT portfolio through a global workforce of 15000 civilian IT professionals and 10000 military providing oversight to the Army's $18 Billion annual IT and cyber budget. He led IT reform and digital transformation through adoption of cloud, AI and data analytics technologies to enable the US Army to achieve digital overmatch against adversaries. Dr. Iyer served as the Principal Official in the Secretariat (equivalent to a 3-Star General Officer in rank) reporting directly to the Secretary of the Army establishing policy, strategy and oversight of programs across the entire United States Army - all mission areas, enterprise and tactical, all components, and locations worldwide.

Dr. Iyer served as a technology leader in the Defense Security & Justice Sector primarily supporting Army clients from strategy to client delivery for a large and complex digital transformation programs. Dr. Iyer specializes in advising clients on how innovation can help transform their businesses in areas such as cloud migration, Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies. He served as a trusted advisor to senior client executives that led to doubling of defense revenue in just 3 years for the firm.

Dr. Iyer led multiple technology pursuits and programs focused on the Defense and National Security Sector. His engagements included providing program management leadership to the Army's modernization of their electronic publishing solution to replace a number of legacy systems and helping the client transform their digital delivery supply chain. His efforts led to the Army eventually sunsetting their legacy system resulting in cost savings of over $25 Million per year. His technology expertise coupled with deep Army knowledge enabled Deloitte to successfully build and deploy the new system in less than 7 months using agile development - a success highlighted at several industry forums as a role model for how DoD should acquire business systems. Dr. Iyer also served as technology advisor to other clients including the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Health and Human Services leading their efforts to establish an acquisition management framework that aligns people, processes and technology to provide better program management oversight for the Department’s $1 Trillion annual budget.

Dr. Iyer served as the senior technology advisor to the CMS Deputy Administrator leading the recovery of the Healthcare.gov health insurance marketplace. As the senior-most technologist in the program office, Dr. Iyer established and provided oversight for the enterprise PMO to oversee the successful recovery of the system within 6 months after the initial failed launch in October 2013. He worked with top business leaders within CMS, HHS and experts from the US Digital Service to develop operational strategies for the re-deployment of the system using an agile development methodology. His multi-functional experience helped align and prioritize the program's business priorities with IT, and developing operational mitigation plans and workarounds that eventually enabled over 16 million citizens to enroll and receive benefits through the exchange that year.

Dr. Iyer was responsible for providing executive leadership and direction to ensure that CMS had modernized information systems and technologies to implement new programs under Medicare Reform and the Affordable Care Act. In his position as Group Director in the Office of the CIO, he was responsible for a portfolio of Healthcare IT systems totaling $1 Billion that provided operational support to Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Benefit programs as well as developmental support to a number of high profile healthcare innovation and demonstration programs such as the Shared Savings Program, Accountable Care Organizations, Value Based Purchasing and Health Insurance Exchanges. Dr. Iyer led an organization comprised of five Divisions and a federal staff of 80 civilians supported by over 600 contractors through an annual operating budget of over $200 Million.

Based out of Huntsville, AL, Dr. Iyer provided oversight for research and development of Information Technology and formulated long term vision, strategy, and technology roadmaps for the Army’s largest 4-Star Command comprised of over 100,000 employees and located in 127 countries worldwide. His responsibilities included identifying how technology can systematically support the business processes of AMC's 10 Major Subordinate Commands including the organic industrial base consisting of 9 depots, 3 arsenals and numerous ammunition plants. As Chief Architect for the Command, he directed the IT architectures for AMC including hardware, software and networks. He was also responsible for exploring new technologies, piloting and validating industry standard solutions and identifying targets for technology insertion within the AMC enterprise. Dr. Iyer provided oversight to a budget of $200 Million for the IT Campaign Plan between 2010-2013 that resulted in the delivery of multiple enterprise solutions for Product Data Management, Automated Identification Technology, Business Intelligence, Unified Collaboration and enterprise service management. Dr. Iyer was regularly called upon to address the Command’s toughest challenges based on his ability to build coalitions and serve as a successful change agent. In 2011, he led senior Army-level task forces to identify cost savings through efficiencies in response to the SecArmy’s directive to achieve $3 Billion in cost savings. He led task forces that developed transformational strategies for how the Command should manage its $1.5 Billion annual software support processes, realignment of subordinate Commands at Aberdeen, MD, and transitioning the contractor managed ERP system to organic support resulting in $200 Million in savings.

Dr. Iyer served as Data Czar responsible for developing the Command’s data management strategy supporting the deployment of Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management. He was responsible for developing integrated business processes between acquisition, logistics and engineering to sustain data quality on TACOM’s weapon system platforms that includes combat and tactical vehicles, ground systems equipment and millions of end items. He established the industrial base data strategy that would allow TACOM’s depots and arsenals to leverage and re-use authoritative data for depot maintenance and manufacturing processes that put the organic maintenance and manufacturing capabilities on par with the private sector. Dr. Iyer provided oversight for data migration at 8 primary US sites and an ERP implementation that spans 80 worldwide sites. He was responsible for the execution of shop floor automation strategies including Manufacturing Execution System and Automated Identification Technology for the organic industrial base. His leadership enabled TACOM to successfully go-live on-schedule with the Army's most complex ERP implementation.

Dr. Iyer led the systems engineering support for TACOM's weapon system PEOs - PEO GCS, PEO CS&CSS and PEO FCS. He led a team of engineers responsible for providing data and configuration management support including developing systems engineering plans for new acquisition programs such as MRAP and JLTV. In partnership with OSD, ASAALT and platform OEMs, Dr. Iyer led the planning and implementation of the DoD's first Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system to manage product lifecycle data. Dr. Iyer led a team of 25 engineers and numerous contractors to implement pilot projects on major weapon systems including the HMMWV, Bradley, Stryker and MRAP. He pioneered the use of Model Based Definition initiatives that use 3-D solid models as the authoritative source of product definition and the use of this definition across all lifecycle functions in engineering and logistics (known as the "digital thread" today). Dr. Iyer established a product data interoperability strategy for the Army that leveraged open data standards and through multiple projects validated how product data could be leveraged by the entire DoD supply chain to include DLA. Dr. Iyer served as the Army's lead for product data standards and represented the DoD as a voting member to the ISO standards body. He served as a member of the Executive Board of the PDES consortium to bring Government and industry together on interoperability. Dr. Iyer was also a vocal advocate of the Army retaining rights in technical product data on weapon systems. His efforts led to sweeping reform by the Secretary of Defense and changes to Army policy as it relates to assessing technical data rights during acquisition.

Dr. Iyer co-founded a venture capital funded startup company focused on developing web-based enterprise software products for design collaboration in the engineering supply chain. He held corporate level responsibility for leading an R&D team that researched and developed the product suite that was offered as a software-as-a-service through the portal aspire3d.com. Dr. Iyer was responsible for developing strategy for new and future products, establish the product architecture and technical marketing working with strategic Aerospace and Defense clients. The product won six prestigious industry awards and grew to a user base of thousands of users worldwide including Fortune 100 companies such as Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin and Applied Materials. Dr. Iyer also managed technical marketing through a global reseller network. He grew the company to a private evaluation of $120 Million and led Mergers and Acquisition negotiations that eventually led to the sale of the company to a private equity firm in 2008.

Dr. Iyer worked with several Dallas area Aerospace and Defense companies to secure funding and grants for research towards his Ph.D. He secured over $1 Million in funding from NSF, USAF and local aerospace corporations. He led a team of graduate researchers in the development of new Artificial Intelligence based algorithms to extract manufacturing features from design drawings. His research was commercialized by the University of Texas with a technology transfer to industry for product development.

Dr. Iyer researched and developed high speed computer graphics algorithms for real-time flight simulation and training applications for the F-16 and other aircraft. He developed software in assembly language for the INMOS parallel processor chip to achieve near realtime graphics visualization for the cockpit displays.
