Dr. Rao is a founding member of Excel Green Technology. Dr. Rao, in his young years, was also a Founder, Chairman and CEO of Excel Technology that he started in his garage. The Company developed laser systems for industrial and medical applications and was initially funded with SBIR grants from NSF, DARPA, NASA and NY State funding agencies. He was successful in taking the Company public in its initial stage with a few employees. The company subsequently became a highly successful and profitable public company with annual sales over $100 million and profit exceeding $10 million with hundreds of employees worldwide. The Company was eventually sold with 10X return to its original investors and shareholders. The Company was honored by INC. magazine as one of the top 10 fastest growing company in the USA. Dr. Rao’s hope and desire is to repeat the same success with his present business of social innovation and change with Excel Green Technology. Dr. Rao received his Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
