Dr. Durbin was responsible for the design, implementation, testing, reporting, and validation of a SAS-based physician pharmacy reporting system. He converted existing COBOL code from an AS400 to SAS on an RS6000 utilizing SAS datastep, macro processing, and AF/SCL screen inputs.

Dr. Durbin developed and integrated a web-based file-sharing and tumor registration system. He was responsible for integrating a death-matching system for the Alabama Statewide Cancer Registry. He provided advanced statistical and database modeling for ad-hoc studies. He supervised data management, statistical, epidemiological, and clinical abstractor staff.

Dr. Durbin served as primary liaison between physicians, patient care managers, and data managers in the Decision Support Department. He was responsible for primary reporting of medical and financial outcomes data to the surgical and medical house staff. He developed new case-type definitions for standardized reporting modules via mainframe screen languages in SAS. He met with the Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) team to help evaluate and initiate new quality assessment and improvement measures for cost containment and improved clinical outcomes.
