Currently, I am the Recruitment and Outreach Manager for Louisiana State University's College of Engineering. I am a graduate of LSU, having obtained a PhD in Organometallic Chemistry (May 1999) and, most recently, a degree as an Educational Specialist (May 2024) and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology (October 2023).My career revolves around impacting science education in a major way by raising the bar for science instruction and ushering students toward STEM careers. My career began as a Research and Development /Quality Control Senior Chemist in the private industry (Albemarle Corporation, ExxonMobil). Before teaching and serving in various leadership roles (Science Department Chair and Principal) at the secondary level, I operated a supplemental educational services company for nine years, working to improve the academic performance of students from Pre-K through college by providing them with a personalized tutor for one-on-one, individualized instruction for private clients and school districts across the state. The highlight of my accomplishments as an educator has been having a say in the science education of students statewide with my appointment by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to serve as the High School Workgroup Chair for the development and adoption of the Louisiana Science Standards for Students in 2017.
