- Leading an international team of Health, Safety and Environmental experts based across the UK, Germany, Sweden- Providing solutions to HSE issues across Uniper's global businesses- Leading Uniper's HSSE & Sustainability work in the UK

- Responsible for environmental performance across Uniper's portfolio in the its core regions of UK, Germany, Sweden, France, Benelux and its growing operations outside Europe- Using my experience to provide insight and steering on all aspects of environmental management, particularly permitting and carbon- Providing leadership across a diverse range of cultures and businesses within the Uniper organisation

- Defined, recruited, developed and coached a team of environmental professionals to deliver expert support and governance to E.ON’s power generation businesses in the UK- Responsible for environmental performance across E.ON’s global businesses operating in the UK, including coal, gas and biomass generation, onshore and offshore wind, gas storage, technology development and energy trading. - Manage E.ON’s relationships with UK Government and regulators on environmental matters, positioning E.ON as a leader in the sector by establishing positive stakeholder relationships. - Provide insight and counsel to CEO and Board Directors on environmental issues, assisting in development of overall business strategy. - Led the consenting of several new power stations, including gas- and biomass-fired plant, and a number of other major environmental upgrade projects. - Created and implemented carbon accountancy discipline across E.ON’s power stations, accounting for 15-20 million tonnes of CO2 per annum - Chaired the UK power sector industry forum with the Environment Agency and other environmental regulators for a number of years and currently represent the UK at the European industry trade association (Eurelectric)- Increasingly performing a cross-European role, leading E.ON’s response to developments in European regulation with colleagues in Germany, Italy, France and Sweden and consulting on significant incidents.- Led teams of 8 – 16 environment and safety professionals at different times, with current budgetary responsibility of approx. £1.5m

• Founding member of a new Asset Management team, responsible for creating a central role for environment in a fleetwide approach to risk management. • Delivered re-permitting of 15 generation sites under the new Pollution Prevention and Control Regulations. • Developed and implemented a system of carbon accountancy across the UK fleet to meet the requirements of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.

• Provided environmental consultancy support to customers within Powergen and to external energy sector customers. • Specialised in environmental auditing, management systems and contaminated land.• Delivered cross-sector research through the Joint Environment Programme (JEP)• Also acted as the site’s Radiation Protection Supervisor.

• Responsible for developing the Council’s approach to both environmental management and contaminated land regulation. • Worked as part of the Environmental Health team dealing with all aspects of contaminated land management, producing the first Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy in England.• Developed and implemented an environmental management system, based on the local authority EMAS model.

• Part of the Environmental Assessment team, responsible for radiological impact assessment of discharges from nuclear establishments.• Provided rapid response assessments following emission events.

• Carried out research into the impact of releases of a specific radioactive element from the Sellafield nuclear fuel reprocessing plant into the Irish Sea, sponsored by BNFL • Research formed the basis of my Ph.D., awarded by the University of Glasgow.

• Carried out environmental monitoring at a Hazardous Waste Incinerator to demonstrate compliance with the IPC authorisation• Also responsible for occupational health monitoring in support of the COSHH system.
