Serial entrepreneur (> 30 entities), Dr. R pioneered concepts & products in pharma, HC delivery, HC technology, health promotion, disease prevention & management, cost containment, managed care & disaster mgmt. In 1980, he started one of the first mail order pharmacies (FPA), and the first AIDS Medication Program (Buyer's Clubs), specialty injectable programs (JITI), physician-office dispensing (DRx) and national home infusion (FBHS) companies. In 1987, - a disease mgmt & health promotion program (IHS-Fiscal Therapy®). In the 1990's, he pioneered the collection/analysis (AI & MD) of real time claims/pharmacy/precertification data to improve health & lower costs (AWAC.md-AWAC®). In 2000, - the first physician-led precertification company (iProcertMD). Working with employers, third party payers, reinsurance carriers & plan designers - authored language to help constituents achieve better health, better outcomes, better care at lower costs, detect and deter fraud & abuse, & build program efficiencies. After selling FBHS, FPA, IHS, iProcertMD & AWAC, he has served as a consultant on select projects, and started several new companies.He began his career as a family & emergency MD with a 4 yr tour in the US Army. Recognized for his leadership, at age 32 was selected Commander of the Southern Medical Contingent of the UN Peacekeeping Force and Observers (Egypt). In 1983-1990 - Medical College of Georgia faculty. Board certifiication in Family Medicine, Medical Management, and Quality Assurance/Utilization Review and Medical Management Masters at Carnegie Mellon. Dr R has served as editor, associate editor, editorial board member and/or reviewer for several medical publications; as well as written/published 83 peer reviewed items, 7 book chapters and 11 software programs.
