In 2017 I established Event Training Australia (ETA) as a vehicle for developing and delivering training programs for: event management professionals; people that find themselves needing event management skills because of their expanded employment roles; and those that are seeking employment in the area. Prior to starting ETA I was the Director of the Australian Event Award winning Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM), University of Technology (UTS), Sydney where I was responsible for developing and delivering event management courses from certificate to Masters level.I remain an Associate of the UTS Business School where ACEM was based. I have previously, worked in a consulting capacity for a range of organisations including Destination NSW, Arts ACT, Events Tasmania and various local councils. My publications include the popular texts Festival and Special Event Management and Event Management (co-author), the Regional Event Management Handbook (co-editor) and a number of refereed journal articles dealing with various aspects of event management, including sustainable event design, drug and alcohol management at events and leveraging events for community development. I also serve as a judge for the Australia Event Awards, and as an assessor for the NSW Regional Event Grants.
