Psychiatric consultation to the emergency room, primarily with individuals experiencing varying severities of suicidality, acute psychosis, acute mania, severe depression, anxiety, or crisis, and medically unexplained symptoms.

Assessing the mental health of individuals on long term disability an average of 6 years and making recommendations for further investigations or rehabilitation potential as part of a comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation program with a 70% success rate of helping disabled individuals regain independent function, life satisfaction, and a return to meaningful work.

Medical leadership for the mental health project within the Clinical Systems Transformation, which will see Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Healthcare, and the Provincial Health Services Authority combine clinical care platforms to Cerner. The overall project goals are to reduce adverse events via computerized physician order entry, closed loop medication management, and the introduction of standardized, evidence-based order sets.

Advising the Chief Medical Officer and product development team about clinical aspects of the secure video technology, particularly in reference to mental health. Creating didactic teaching about telemedicine and telepsychiatry to present to health care audiences. Remaining cognizant of relevant telemedicine scholarship, professional guidelines, and regulatory frameworks. Building relationships, formally and informally, with clinical and technology partners.

Green College is an interdisciplinary graduate residence college on the UBC grounds with an intentional mandate to promote scholarship at the interface of academic disciplines. Faculty of the college demonstrate a professional and scholarly commitment to interdisciplinary work at an advanced level of academic rigour. The College was founded by Cecil Green, a UBC graduate and the founder of Texas Instruments. Cecil had a lifelong interest in the unique potential for insight resulting from interdisciplinary work.

Attending staff on: an inpatient unit specializing in comorbid psychotic and substance use disorders; the addiction medicine service, seeing patients in all medical, surgical, and psychiatric units with comorbid substance use disorders; and, the Chronic Pain Program, seeing initial consultations and following patients in the ambulatory pain clinic. I also conducted brief psychodynamic psychotherapy with pain patients.
