He founded non-profit Hollins Communications Research Institute (HCRI - www.stuttering.org) in 1972 to research stuttering, develop new treatment approaches, and administer life-changing therapy. Since that time, Dr. Webster and his institute have achieved national acclaim. Dr. Webster is recognized for inventing comprehensive behavioral therapy for stuttering. Since launching this HCRI therapy program 40+ years ago, Dr. Webster continually refines his proprietary treatment approach. His center has served 6,500+ people who stutter from across the U.S. and 50 countries. Specialized electronics, therapy software, speech measurement tools, clinician training protocols, and a sophisticated "clinician-in-your-pocket" app continue to raise the bar on stuttering treatment excellence. Dr. Webster has been awarded a number of U.S. patents for his stuttering therapy innovations.HCRI participants achieve fluency in 93% of cases. Follow-up research reveals 70-75% maintain fluency two years after therapy. Dr. Webster's fluency outcomes are among the highest documented of stuttering treatments.
