Dr. Saif Mahmood is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and an international corporate-commercial lawyer, legal academic, author and public speaker with 25 years of a rich and diverse experience. He holds a PhD in Law with specialization in Legal Systems of South Asian countries. An expert in the legal aspects of the UK-UAE-India business and investments corridor, he divides time between the UK and India. He works on cross-border trade, corporate-commercial contracts, setting up and development of cross-border businesses and investments, tech Innovation and investments, infrastructure, energy, projects, media & entertainment laws and resolution of international and domestic commercial disputes – subjects on which he handled a wide variety of cases before all levels of courts and quasi-judicial fora, has advised major corporate blue-chips, public sector entities and non-governmental organisations and has organised and participated in numerous conferences and seminars the world over. A niche area of his practice is advising global members of the Indian diaspora on wealth management, succession planning and securing their assets. His academic interests lie in Constitutionalism and Human Rights. He has been Visiting Academic in Law at the University of Oxford (Hilary-Trinity 2022) and his works have been cited by the Supreme Court of India. Widely travelled, he is actively associated with a number of academic, legal, professional and literary organizations all over the world. Amongst other international organizations, he sits on the board of Tech India Advocates, UK and has been Secretary of BRICS Law India and Global Legal & Economic Council (GLEDCON), Secretary General of the Association of Scholars of Religion and Law (ASRAL), Asia Coordinator of the International Consortium on Law and Religion Studies, Milan (ICLARS) and Member, Board of Advisors of the Manama Centre for Human Rights, Bahrain. He is the Co-editor of Delhi High Court’s Quarterly Bar Review and Member of the Advisory Board of the Indian Law Review. Outside of his profession, he is recognised as a leading South Asian name in Urdu literature and its cultural history. His much celebrated book 'Beloved Delhi: A Mughal City and Her Greatest Poets' is considered authoritative in the field. He is currently the Vice President of Urdu Culture London and Honorary Director of Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu UK.
