Malta

Managed the delivery of key actions of the Maltese Water Catchment Management Plan through an EU- funded project with a €1.9 million budget. Developed project plans, aligned with national environmental policies, and ensured delivery through leadership of the multi-disciplinary project team and monitoring of costs and deliverables. Led on liaison with project partners, including the Energy and Water Agency and the national environmental regulator, maintaining excellent working relationships to support effective coordination and collaboration. Developed calls for tender to procure specialist services, researching best practice for restoration and management approaches in order to inform technical specifications. Worked closely with procurement colleagues to maintain oversight of processing. Managed the development and implementation of a programme of ecological and hydro-morphological field surveys including carrying out a gap analysis to identify information needs, reviewing scientific literature to determine the most appropriate methodologies, procuring field equipment and providing guidance to junior team members on compliance with EU directives and reporting practices. Planned and implemented photogrammetric drone surveys of valley environments, using industry-standard piloting and data processing software.

Malta

Supported the designation and management planning of marine protected areas. Mapped seabed habitats, using ArcGIS to analyse bathymetric and species sightings data; led stakeholder consultations and developed management measures. Led on the planning of remediation and mitigation schemes for specific sites, based on ecological investigations and best practice guidance. Contributed to the development of national strategies for the implementation of environmental legislation in Malta, as well as to proposals for EU-funded projects. Provided recommendations and advice to the board on topics of national interest, based on ad hoc research and data analysis. Commissioned ecological research studies and oversaw delivery by consultants. Reviewed Environmental Impact Assessments, Appropriate Assessments and nature permit applications.
