• The primary job responsibilities for the Financial Aid Counselor include serving as a front-line information assistant for incoming phone calls, walk-in clients, and e-communications inquiries concerning financial aid. In particular, this individual will advise and counsel students on the financial aid application process, determine applicant aid eligibility, process financial aid, and contribute to the overall goals of the Office of Financial Aid. • Remains current on federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations. • Serves as first contact for incoming calls for financial aid information. Returns all front-line calls during the same day during non-peak periods and within 24 hours during peak periods.• Manages and implements a caller/voicemail system for the entire office.• Serves as a point of contact with the general electronic messaging system within the office.• Coordinates and implements various motivational and office morale activities.• Reviews and completes daily mail list for assigned alphabet within 24 hours except during peak season. Mail list includes documents needed to process financial aid files for individual students through a computer-based database of imaged documents.• Provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large.• Responsible for the display of all office literature within the primary building and other public spaces on the campus.• Presents information at on-campus and off-campus financial aid workshops and information sessions.• Works closely with a team of counselors to ensure that the overall office goals are met, that exceptional customer service is given, and that clientele needs are met.
