From an early age, I knew that I wanted to make a positive impact on the world, and I was drawn to the field of education.After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature and Cultural Studies at Trent University, I began my career as a post-secondary instructor. I loved working with students and helping them to learn and grow. This led me to pursue a graduate degree at the same institution, where I delved into literary works from the Cold War. After my M.A., I pursued a PhD at the University of Waterloo, where I worked with scholars in the field of American Studies to produce my dissertation project, which I am now developing into a book manuscript. During my PhD, I was able to explore new ideas and test them out in real-world settings. I also discovered my passion for writing, as I shared my findings with other educators and researchers in my field.As I continued to work in education, I became increasingly aware of the many social issues facing our world today. So, I began to use my skills as an educator, researcher, and writer to become an activist, working to seek equitable representation of students in the post-secondary environment. Through my activism, I was able to connect with people from all walks of life, and I saw firsthand the power of collective action to create change.Today, I continue to wear many hats as a passionate educator, researcher, writer, and activist. After 12 years as an educator in the post-secondary world, I am committed to using my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the worlds I'm part of.
