About Sarah Main

Sarah is an accomplished leader and an influential figure in UK science and research. At Elsevier, she brings her extensive experience and leadership in scientific research and policy to shape engagement with academia and government on the major issues shaping UK science, research and innovation. As Executive Director of the Campaign for Science and Engineering, she established a strong, dynamic organisation, leading a high performing and versatile team. She shaped significant changes in public policy, working collaboratively with a senior network in Government, Parliament and the science economy. Sarah is a highly experienced non-executive director and advisor. She has delivered commissioned advisory work for Ministers and at national and institutional level. She has strategic leadership experience at board level over ten years in executive and non-executive roles, including with the British Science Association and the Foundation for Science and Technology.Sarah has strong scientific credentials, as a research scientist in her early career and now as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology; an Honorary Professor at University College London; and Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Innovation, Policy and Society at the University of Westminster.
