• Introduction to Mineral Processing, an undergraduate course, covering the following topics: Ore handling, Metallurgical accounting, control and simulation, Particle size analysis, Comminution, Crushers, Grinding mills, Industrial screens, Classification, Gravity concentrations, Dense media separation, Froth flotation, magnetic and electrical separation, Ore sorting, Tailing disposal.• Coal geology and coal preparations, an undergraduate course, covering the following topics: Origin and formation of coal, coal geology, petrography constitutes of coal, Analysis of coal (proximate, ultimate), screening of coal, Sink-float study of coal, Washability study of coal, Construction of M-Curve, Gravity separation, Dry beneficiation of coal, Challenges of fine coal, froth flotation, coal preparation flowsheet and modern development• Process equipment selection and flowsheet development, an undergraduate course, covering the following topics: Sampling of mineral deposit for feasibility study, Metallurgical flowsheet development, General guidelines for plant design, Size selection for a mineral beneficiation plant and for a coal preparation plant, Brief review of mineral engineering unit operations. Size reduction and energy requirement. Selection and design features of Crushing and Grinding Equipment like Jaw crusher, Cone crusher, Roll crusher, Ball mill, Rod mill, Autogenous mill etc. Selection and sizing of various types of screens, screen efficiency, straight and curved screen, Selection, and sizing of different classifiers including hydrocyclone. Free and hindered settling, Selection, and sizing of gravity separation equipment like jig, table, spiral etc. Preparation of heavy medium. General overview of magnetic and electrostatic separator selection. Solid and water balance calculations for the estimation of flow rates in beneficiation circuits. Flow sheet development for a coking coal and non-coking coal washery.
