In the delivery phase, I established information and document control tools, risk management and financial reporting. I also implemented improvements to governance through controlled decision making and record-keeping. Additional responsibilities included:Strategic Advice and Support – Scott’s initial role was to support the early development of the project to sufficiently allow the client to proceed with their proposed contract strategy. Scott’s key tasks included a review of the current status and existing project structure which led to the recommendation of delaying works to allow further internal development to the project – a view accepted by the client. This led to further support work by Scott and the team in risk identification and reduction, scope development. PMO & Site Services Delivery – This comprised Scott’s leading an integrated Management Office and overseeing sub-consultants working in key site-based roles. The PMO involved establishing a team comprising Arup specialists as well as client team members, with Scott reporting directly to the National Grid Senior PM. It required strong leadership in order to bring the team together and establish the working methods and processes. This involved prioritising of easements, resolving information gaps through forming links to wider programme team members and producing accurate progress reporting to NG management.Commissioning Strategy – Supporting the National Grid commissioning manager, Scott developed and published the strategy document for managing all commissioning activities within LPT, gathering inputs from various stakeholders and existing NG Transmission Procedures. Design Coordination – Focussing on interfaces between six major contractors, across 12 sites, Scott provided the client project managers with confidence that designs were being aligned from the earliest possible stage.
