I held a position as a postdoctoral fellow at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute under the supervision of Stuart Lipton. Here I am focusing on two aspects of cytoskeletal dynamics 1) glutamate signaling in both modulation of postsynaptic dendrites and in initiation of axon ensheathment through activation of NMDA receptors 2) mitochondrial organelle trafficking in neurons. I am further assessing how aberrations in these pathways manifest in models of stroke and Parkinson's disease.
