Dr. Scott Savage has over 25 years of experience as a teacher, dean, assistant principal, and principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Dr. Savage attended Parkland Community College, for which he often gives credit for his taking an interest in the education field. Dr. Savage is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois, where he received his B.S. Degree in Secondary Education, and Eastern Illinois University, where he received his M.S. Degree in Educational Leadership. After taking a strong interest in Restorative Practices, Dr. Savage completed his doctorate at the University of St. Francis. He earned his Doctorate of Education Degree with a research focus on Restorative Practices, Achievement, and School Culture. Dr. Savage is a certified Restorative Practices Trainer through the International Institute of Restorative Practices and has facilitated workshops for educators and support staff on the power of relationships, classroom management, communicating with families, and trauma practices in the classroom. Dr. Savage credits his servant leadership philosophy to his parents, Pastor Lundy Savage (deceased 2011) and Carolyn Savage, who was "always serving others and helping the community to be better." Dr. Savage continues to take on leadership roles in his community and the education profession. Seeing a need for African American male administrators to connect professionally and receive support, he started a network of black male administrators to share success, challenges, and ideas. This group grew from 10 educators having lunch to more than 25 to 30 male educators attending the network sessions. Scott, as he likes to be called, is a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran and a former Division I Men's basketball official. Scott has two beautiful daughters, Keira and Aliya Savage. Dr. Savage is available to provide workshops to new administrators, new teachers, and a variety of educators who seek to leverage DEI, trauma-informed, and restorative practices in their classroom and school culture.
