IPM Senior Fellowships are bestowed honours, awarded by the IPM to individuals that have made an outstanding contribution to the place management industry. Senior Fellowships will be announced in December of each year and the bestowment ceremony will take place during the IPM’s annual conference. At this level, membership includes access to all parts of the Institute and Senior Fellows are entitled to use the designatory letters SFIPM.

Bringing Big Data to Small Users (#BDSU) is a collaborative research and development project led by retail intelligence specialists, Springboard, and involving the Institute of Place Management, Manchester Metropolitan University, Cardiff University, MyKnowledgeMap, and other key partners.It is seeking to develop effective tools that enable policy makers, retailers, retail property owners, and local partnerships to use data to make informed and collaborative decisions about the future of town and city centres. The project is co-funded by Innovate UK, the UK's innovation agency.

The Society was founded 1884; originally it was aimed at businessmen and concentrated on commercial and political geography. It contributed to the appointment of the first geography lecturer at Owens College in 1891, and the first professor at Manchester University in 1930. Across European cities local entrepreneurs are joining forces in new ways, forming collectives to stimulate business growth and innovation and to create a more attractive business environment. Area Based Collaborative Entrepreneurship (ABCE) means entrepreneurs collaborate by co-investing in facilities or technology, market their urban district collectively, improve shared public space, etc. The value of such collectives is increasingly recognized by local governments and policy measures to stimulate these initiatives are being developed. Area based collaborative entrepreneurship fosters urban regeneration as the participating firms are most often strongly connected to their neighbourhood and committed to social goals. Neighbourhood liveability and social ties between local stakeholders are enforced. ABCE supports inclusive growth, cooperation and cohesion and helps to address the negative impacts of globalization such as economic restructuring, income inequality and the decline of urban areas. The current policy instruments of the project partners seek to promote knowledge-based SME innovation and access to funding but they show a lack of attention to the emerging networked and locally anchored types of initiatives that promote inclusive growth, innovation and regeneration. For this reason we intend to develop recommendations for four OPs and one other policy instrument in European regions by capturing local learnings systematically, identifying critical success conditions and sharing them across regions in Europe. Five European urban regions are involved in this project: Amsterdam, Athens, Manchester, Vilnius, and the conurbation Varazdin-Cakovic (Croatia). All regions currently experiment with ABCE and initiated this project to share experiences and gain deeper insights in order to develop more effective policy instruments.

The Vital and Viable Neighbourhood Centres project is an ongoing collaborative endeavor between Manchester City Council (MCC), the Institute of Place Management (IPM), and interested centre stakeholders, which began in 2016 and will continue into 2018. It is hoped that the insights attained from the project will help to improve the vitality and viability of neighbourhood centres in Manchester which are currently, or at risk of, underserving the needs of their communities.

Responsible for initiating and co-ordinating activities on a regional level between Higher Education Initiatives and other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) stakeholders. Rolling out pilot projects and best-practice working in collaboration with Professional Bodies. Acting as a focus for knowledge and information sharing in relation to Widening Participation and outreach activity in the North West region. Facilitating the transfer and embedding of practice and co-ordinating regional activity by Higher Education Institutions.

Desk-based researcher for Urban Development Information Service (UDIS). The Planning Exchange was established in Glasgow in 1975 as a part of the Centre for Environmental Studies and became a separate charity in 1980. It developed a comprehensive library and information service, ran best practice events, developed a number of publications including the Local Economic Development Information Service (LEDIS) and the Urban Development Information Services (UDIS), built a comprehensive database on the development of the UK new towns and carried out many research projects.In 2002 the Planning Exchange sold its business operations to IDOX plc – a company which provides information solutions primarily to local government. IDOX took on the staff of the Planning Exchange and invested in the further development of the information service
