Alcohol in U.S. Society (BEHS 364)An interdisciplinary examination of the use and abuse of the drug alcohol from the perspectives of psychology, physiology, sociology, medicine, counseling, law and public health. The aim is to examine current research and trends in the treatment of alcohol abuse and dependence (including prevention, assessment, and intervention) and to explore the history, etiology, effects, and current treatment practices. The effects of alcohol throughout the lifespan are explored in relation to gender, families, race, age, the workplace, and public safety

Behavior Health Operations Management • Holds weekly staff meetings to conduct case consultations, review treatment plans and medical chart documentation, and to share general information. Manages clinical schedules, assuring adequate coverage. Conducts semi-annual and annual performance appraisals in compliance with FHCB guidelines. Regularly conducts staff team building activities. Screens all behavior health staff candidates. Provides placement and administrative oversight (i.e. timesheets, verbal and written follow-up) for staff. • Establishes a working network of mental health, substance abuse, human resource community schools, churches and other community agencies as referral sources for patients. • Monitors and assures program compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws. Assures continuous State certification. Assures compliance with Joint Commission standards. • Specifically responsible for meeting all BSAS, Ryan White, commercial insurance, and managed care organizations requirements. Reviews grant and contracts for compliance regularly. Assures accurate and timely preparation of deliverables, including program demographics, progress reports, and financial activities. Oversees work plan and budget adherence for all behavioral health contract and grants; assures that budgets operate within their written limits. Prepares renewal grant proposals, in collaboration with finance and the office of the CEO. • Supervises management of patient complaints. Makes sure that case managers understand the patient complaint system and work in collaboration with practice managers to assist patients. Assures that complaint forms are complete and signed. Submits all signed complaints to the Clinical Services Administrator for disposition. • Collects, analyzes and reports data for routine performance tracking and program development, and to identify trends. Assures appropriate and complete medical records progress notes and other required documentation.

Supervised all licensed and unlicensed clinical staff (administratively) in the clinical and medical departments (Chemical Dependency, PRP, Mental Health and Nursing). Supervises and ensures the comprehensive coordination and delivery of clinical and medical services.
