In my current role as Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs in the Indian IP Office (IPO), I have managed numerous initiatives aimed at modernizing and streamlining the Designs process in India. Additionally, I have been instrumental in developing training programs for Designs Examiners. I have been involved in many ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Designs administration, including contribution for a user-friendly electronic filing system in India and reducing processing time of new Designs applications to about 01 month. Most importantly, in the capacity of Controller of Designs till date I have decided more than 25000 design applications. I also take pride in serving as a resource person for the WIPO-India Summer Schools, where I have provided my insights on Industrial Designs practice and procedures. Additionally, as a passionate and avid learner in the field of Intellectual Property, I have successfully completed 09 distance learning courses from WIPO-Academy. These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of the strategic and operational aspects of intellectual property management and have prepared me to take on new challenges with confidence and enthusiasm.With over 02 decades (since 2003) of experience in Patents and Designs at the IPO, I possess an unique blend of technical expertise and legal acumen that positions me well to contribute towards initiatives pertaining to IPR field. My track record of successfully managing complex legal and technical issues within the ambit of legal and regulatory frameworks, and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders demonstrates my ability to drive impactful outcomes in dynamic and challenging environments. My role as the key personnel for successful integration of Indian registered design database with Design-View Database of EUIPO is testament to that. I have also represented India in the Ninth Session of Hague Working Group as an observer. Further, I was also instrumental for acquiring of ISO - 9001:2008 Certification for the Designs Registry of India. I have represented India at JPO and EUIPO and erstwhile OHIM. Moreover, my experience of working within a governmental framework has honed my strategic thinking, policy advocacy, and diplomatic skills, which I believe are essential for effectively engaging with various IPR stakeholders to advance their mission and objectives.Prior to my career in IPR, I had about eight years of doctoral & post-doctoral research experience in the field of Aquatic Environmental Microbiology in respect of Aquaculture practices.
