David evaluates inventions and software developed at JPL to determine the best way to foster commercialization. He provides intellectual property guidance, including patenting and licensing strategies, and he acts as a liaison between potential business partners and JPL researchers. Technology transfer helps the public sector benefit from NASA and JPL research and know-how.

David developed Unity 3D based applications for visualization of spacecraft missions Juno, Cassini, and also the Solar Eclipse in 2017, as a member of the JPL Visualization Technology Applications Development group (VTAD).JPL is operated under contract by Caltech for NASA, and JPL is NASA’s lead center for robotic exploration of the solar system. JPL's core competency is the end-to-end implementation of unprecedented robotic space missions to study Earth, the Solar System, and the Universe.

David created industrial videos of spacecraft and digital effects (smoke, fire, explosions), and he was the render farm systems planner and administrator. Previously he was a systems engineering lead.

David led a worldwide team to build a digital compositing, film restoration, and scanning/recording pipeline for Cinesite/Hollywood. He was also the Manager of Research and Development, developing new and improved digital effects for motion pictures.
