Our team collaborated with campus community members to establish recruitment and retention strategies. We developed and reviewed policies that can impact the University’s enrollment targets and monitor and track enrollment progress. Then the fun begins! Because the first year is vital to student success, we present New Student Orientation and the First Year Experience, with co-curricular offerings focusing on Student Leadership, Civic Engagement, and Career Services. My office worked with faculty and departmental staff to impart appropriate guidance over issues of policy, conduct, and university safety. In Student Affairs, I participated in developing institutional policies and supporting services that help students reach their educational goals via co-curricular opportunities of exceptional quality. We encompass offices and departments that include Student Activities and Leadership, Student Conduct & Community Standards, Counseling and Student Development, Career Services, Residence Life, Housing, and International Student Services.Student Affairs staff members provided administrative and technological support to keep our operation at maximum potential and on the cutting edge.My deep, diverse experience in academia and Higher Education administration has served me well in this comprehensive role.

I taught two Introduction to Social Science courses in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.During a time of pandemic lockdown, I facilitated online learning and virtual knowledge acquisition. I supervised individual and organizational development by applying active learning methods and utilizing various instructional strategies for learners.

I spearheaded higher education research and strategic planning projects with an emphasis on Student Affairs. A variety of clients included HBCU and PWI institutions as well as providers of educational resources. I sought to advance diversity as a critical component of social, academic, and intellectual life by providing strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives.This was during a profoundly difficult year with racial strife during a worldwide pandemic.The development and implementation of an “IDEA” strategic program, that is, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access, was a key accomplishment of my time in this role at UPB. I collaborated with the Campus President and Vice Presidents, campus student leaders, academic and administrative personnel, and appropriate internal and external constituent groups in this successful endeavor.We integrated diversity best practices into the institutional workplace. We enhanced operations by implementing an Equity Lens in the talent review hiring process. We ensured that all university associates received culturally competent and unbiased training aligned with the university culture and talent function. And we spearheaded the development of an IDEA Human Resources Recruitment Tool Kit.I also developed and implemented UPB's Equity and Access Analysis and Assessment Profile while overhauling UPB's Culture Change Campus Assessment.

As a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, I advised the Chancellor on non-academic student engagement. I also served as the Chief Student-Personnel Officer, managing 10 direct reports.I was charged with the oversight of strategic and fiscal planning for the Division of Student Engagement, including University Police, Academic Advising, Retention, Counseling, and Wellness Services.Key activities centered around grant-writing and securing funding for campus safety, healthy living/suicide prevention initiatives, and student retention.I collaborated across academic and administrative departments on initiatives that support the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students. We enabled a 10% placement in admitted students by designing and implementing a College Readiness Boot Camp to invite students whose test results placed them in Remedial or co-requisite courses.And I developed and led the implementation of student support retention strategies yielding a 4% increase from Fall 2017 to Fall 2018.

Functions overlapped as I reported to the President as Interim Vice Provost (St. Thomas) while managing nine direct reports and reporting to the Provost as Dean of Student Affairs (St.Croix).I oversaw the assessment, strategic planning, communication strategy development, and budget within Student Affairs units. I led the functional areas of enrollment management, including Recruitment, Admissions, Marketing, Financial Aid, and Registrar.I acted and served as Chair of the Presidential Sexual Assault Taskforce while assisting the Title IX Coordinator. I also served as a Provost Dual Enrollment Implementation Committee member and the Chief Student Conduct/Judicial Affairs Officer.By creating and implementing annual and strategic plans, we achieved new student overall enrollment and net tuition revenue goals.By creating the new Student Convocation, we yielded a 25% orientation attendance increase from (45% to 70%). We increased student housing occupancy by 25%, from(70% to 95%) by implementing a new Student Housing Branding/Marketing campaign.And in partnership with Institutional Advancement, secured a $250,000 donation to the University and School of Business through a Community Employers Appreciate & Recognition Event.

The college serves the largest number of dual-enrollment, international, transfer, and first-time freshman students in the University System of Georgia.I managed the human resources of the Student Life Center, including student life professionals and administrative and student staff.While managing the fiscal budget and external vendor contracts, I developed, coordinated, and evaluated a comprehensive co-curricular program.By facilitating training on free speech and expression, student rights, and safely protesting, I took the lead in the development of a culturally competent campus.
