My primary role has been teaching patients, physicians, surgeons. Weight loss surgery is easy, but perhaps the most challenging is getting people to change their lifestyle. The first weight loss surgeon to have certification in Culinary Medicine. After doing thousands of weight loss operations for many years he learned that the key to long-term success was ultimately not the operation, but the lifestyle change. He became the first bariatric surgeon to become certified in Culinary Medicine from the Tulane Goldring School of Culinary Medicine. He currently is on their advisory board.Dr. Terry Simpson has another side, where he has unique ability to bring health care delivery and medicine together- from an academic side (basic research) to the delivery of health care to those who have little or no resources. While a member of the Executive Committee has been working to improve the quality and quantity of research coming out of Alaska- currently over 800 publications and research projects. In addition, as my role in Alaska Native medical affairs (Southcentral Foundation, as well as a member of the governing board of The Alaska Native Medical Center) - the development and delivery of healthcare to Native Americans has been a primary focus for a number of years," says Terry Simpson, M.D. . The success of the primary care model in Anchorage, provides an example of how future health care delivery systems can be made.Terry Simpson, M.D. was the resident physician for a syndicated morning show in over 100 markets. That program "Your Doctors Orders" provided viewers with tips and information about medicine, health, and wellness.
