About Dr. Tia Palmer
I am an educator, administrator, and lifelong learner. My Masters in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia teaching license with endorsements in Administration, Elementary Education grades Pre-K-6 and English, have opened up wonderful opportunities as an educator and administrator in various school districts. I have served as a teacher of elementary grades K-6, English 6-12, English department chair, Academic Coordinator and district School Improvement Coordinator. These experiences have allowed me the opportunity to advise and lead staff in making instructional and procedural improvements. As a result, I have become proficient at observing and evaluating instruction to ensure relevance and accommodation of multiple intelligences, and to improve student outcomes. I earned a Post-Masters endorsement in Administration and Educational Leadership PreK-12 from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a critical thinker my experiences have helped to develop my communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. While earning my Educational Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from Virginia State University I utilized and improved upon these skills. Furthermore, I am culturally competent and digitally literate, proficient in managing resources to promote efficiency and provide professional development fostering a supportive educational environment. Using assessments and data I have monitored student progress, identified areas of weakness, and assisted educators in propelling students to excellence. One of my greatest strengths as an administrator is the ability to communicate with parents and community members. As a transitional leader and problem solver I am skilled in utilizing available resources and encouraging parental and community support to promote academic success. I believe learning happens more effectively in safe structured learning environments and pride myself on my experiences with maintaining school wide discipline. My passion for education drives me to work diligently to ensure a safe environment which is conducive to learning.
