Hotrock is an environmental NGO that promotes education for sustainability in Western Australia. I was commissioned by Hotrock to develop curriculum on Western Australian environmental history for high schools in the state. Teamed up with Department Director to build awareness of climate change issues and supply evidence to administrators, faculty, partnering universities, and the general public to inspire funding and national support.Climate Change Policy Research Officer♦ Prepared PowerPoint presentation showcasing UK and California as models for responding to climate change, focusing on better use of power, increase in public transportation, incentive for hybrid vehicles, stronger infrastructure around housing electricity, and initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.♦ Edited up to 20 drafts of 20-50 page grant proposals geared towards mobilizing universities to pool funds for multimillion-dollar green development projects.♦ Worked on proposal requesting $20 million from Australian federal government to fund new green biology research center and veterinarian school facilities.♦ Conceptualized and developed internal proposal nominating that the university purchase 40% of its electricity from renewable sources, leveraging this environmental initiative to market the university to a student base with a growing interest in sustainability.♦ Reviewed background of 50 Australian universities to ascertain commitment to sustainability and alternative energy sources within their construction process. Compiled quantified data detailing the positive effects of government’s involvement in sustainable development projects.
