I worked as a senior specialist on the design and development of online courses and programs. Projects include development of several practice-oriented courses for an online executive graduate program in Health Administration, design and initial development of onboarding resources for faculty and course developers new to online course development, collaborative redesign of certificate in university teaching, and initial analysis of courses to be adapted for online delivery in the Faculty of Arts.

Drawing on my expertise in cultural analysis in the arts and humanities and training in brand and corporate semiotics, I offer organizations brand, product and service semiotics analysis to inform research design, advance change work, and support product and service marketing.

I work with leadership teams in creative organizations to support team development and to improve collaborative work results. My team coaching approach is informed by cutting edge research insights from team coaching thought leaders (e.g. Peter Hawkins, David Clutterbuck) leading learning theorists (e.g. Etienne and Bev Wenger-Traynor) , developmental and dialogical organizational development (e.g. Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey, Gervase Bushe and Robert Marshak) , and research on teaming and collaboration (e.g. Amy Edmondson, Linda Hill)

I work with early- and mid-career professionals in creative industries (academics, designers, entrepreneurs, researchers, marketers) to help them integrate work and life, to address workplace challenges and be more productive. I support my clients as they experiment with formal and informal learning so they can develop new professional capabilities and pursue their goals.My approach to coaching in non-directive and based on ongoing dialogue, knowledge sharing, problem reframing and role play . I worked with university professors from across the UBC Faculty of Arts to design and refine courses for emergency remote instruction during COVID-19. Together with colleagues, I designed and piloted a mixed method evaluation strategy for a Teaching and Learning grant on online collaborative learning and assessment activities, created professional development content and training related to emergency remote teaching and technology-enhanced learning. I developed narrative stories of innovative teaching and performance support resources to enable faculty to adapt teaching designs for their course and context.

I partnered with my colleague Barbara Berry, an experienced process designer and facilitator and committee chair, to consult with the Beedie Teaching and Learning Committee to support this faculty leadership group as it developed and iterated its strategic vision, mission, and action plans to advance a positive, collegial educational culture at the Beedie School of Business. I have provided ongoing consulting and coaching with the committee as it has taken collective action to improve professional development at the business school.Results have included- Collaborative planning and co-facilitation of strategic retreats and action planning processes - Design and development of annual teaching and learning professional development events.- Development of collegial social learning programs in undergraduate and graduate programs- Development of collegial, non-directive teaching exchange program- Development on ongoing welcoming and on boarding professional development programming for faculty - Development of strategic professional development initiatives on inclusion in business education, and online professional development resource site.We have presented this work at SFU and at the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

Drawing on my expertise in higher education transitions and access, I consulted and collaborated with Beedie School of Business Undergraduate Programs faculty and staff as they iterated academic plans for BusOne, a first-year integrated academic and co-curricular program for high school students transitioning to university. The program developed from an optional course offered at one campus to a mandatory, comprehensive program at two campuses. I supported faculty and staff as they designed and iterated courses, assessment and co-curricular workshop components. Over several academic years, I supported a faculty and staff team as it developed Beedie’s Business Foundations Programs designed and iterated an innovative introductory course on collaboration in work environments, and developed innovative academic experiences and assessment tasks such as a video-based design thinking assessment and an semester-long experiential product management experience where student team learn to collaborate through managing products for the SFU bookstore.Beedie's first-year programming has been recognized by SFU and featured in the Globe and Mail.

I was a faculty member in the English Department. I taught a mix of academic writing, business communication, and literature courses.I am most proud of two courses I taught at Langara. One was a writing course that explored Vancouver from multiple perspectives. We read Vancouver short stories, non-fiction essays, and academic research. Another course, designed specifically for Nursing students, focused on patient and nurses' narratives. In both cases, I aimed to adapt generic English classes to the specific needs of particular groups of students.
