Additionally, I am honoured to be the Director of the Department of Halal Certification Europe (DHCE), a leading accredited Halal certification body based in Ireland. My dedication to policy and strategy development is reflected in my roles as a board member for EULEMA, SOAR Project, and as a founding member of MJLC (Muslim-Jewish Leadership Council). Through these positions, I strive to ensure the consideration of minority communities in the formulation of policies at both the EU and member state levels.Having been raised in the Netherlands and now residing in Ireland for over two decades, I understand the importance of embracing our complex human narratives without alienation or otherisation. My commitment to advocating for socio-economic fairness for marginalised groups and the recognition of equal rights for all is evident in my work. As an alumnus of the US IVLP Program, I actively engage in projects addressing Islamophobia, antisemitism and anti-Muslim sentiments, contributing to the creation of an inclusive society.A vocal critic of extremism and radicalisation, I strongly condemn Islamist violence while urging policymakers to address the social exclusion that enables hate-preachers to radicalise vulnerable individuals. In addition to contributing to the Irish print and broadcast media as a commentator, I have had the privilege of being a keynote and guest speaker at renowned institutions such as the European Parliament, the US State Department, the UAE Peace Forum, The Kennedy Institute, and the British Parliament.
