Trained as an economist, my attachment to the Oaxacan coast began while I was still in university and president of the Student Council. While delivering post-hurricane aid supplies that the student council had collected, I was shocked by the level of poverty there. Witnessing the poverty of Oaxaca was a transformational experience, and decided to develop productive initiatives to help rural populations improve their income and living standards, especially fishermen. Realizing that small-scale fisheries were a dead-end, I turned my efforts to aquaculture by developing Maricultura Vigas.

I was responsible for developing and executing Business Analytics projects. My role consisted primarily of understanding clients' needs and finding data-driven solutions. I was also in charge of formulating and executing large-scale studies about the future of talent in LatAm and the US for a major outsourcing company. We focused on academic sources, as well as empirical studies with employees and human capital executives. We studied the relationship between specific talent practices and HR metrics such as turnover, motivation productivity with special focus on Innovation

Fresh out of college I started a Not for profit organization with the mission of finding economic opportunities for African Mexican communities on the Oaxacan Coast. We organized different productive projects with groups of women, focused on the intersection between handcrafts and design. We developed different sales channels with more than 60 outlets in Mexico City.These projects were executed by full-time members of the organization, as well as young volunteers from universities in Mexico City, and local volunteers or interns from the target communities for our work.We also looked for more scalable opportunities that ranged from microfinance, organic fertilizer, coconut farming, and fishing projects. While analyzing alternatives for enhancing fishermen's productivity we realized that it was a dead end, because fisheries were being exploited at their maximum. During this time I was exposed to both the opportunities and downsides of aquaculture as an industry. This triggered the motivation to pursue a technological game-changer that would tap aquaculture's potential to become a force for good in the world.

I was responsible for developing the strategy for the design and execution of economic development projects. I was able to meet with dozens of impact entrepreneurs and their ideas to improve the lives of marginalized communities.I was also involved in the analysis of large-scale health projects like Cervical Cancer prevention.
