I have been teaching in Department of Anatomy since 1996 i.e. 24 years. I have since risen to the post of “Professor and Head of Department of Anatomy”. These years have involved in• Teaching Gross anatomy on cadavers,• Taking lectures of gross anatomy, histology, embryology and genetics, • Conducting histology and embryology practical sessions, • Preparing histology slides and embryology models, • Facilitating body donations• Running of cadaver workshops on soft embalmed cadavers • Setting up the new Anatomy Department • Over last 2 years, carrying out my duties of administration as the head of the Department of Anatomy. • University approved Postgraduate (MD) teacher/guide • PhD guide in subject of Anatomy.I am passionate about innovative teaching and was awarded, the “Innovative Teaching Award” for the year 2017-18 by our university. Research, Scholarly and creative activities:I have been actively pursuing various lines of research and publishing the same and have 51 publications to my name.Experience in relation to Body and Organ Donation program:I have been involved in facilitating a number of body donations over last several years. I also regularly conduct training sessions for transplant coordinators in my state (Maharashtra) in the Body donation process. Organ donation:• Completed PhD in a topic related to Organ donation. I have been pursuing research in this and have several research articles to my credit in organ donation. • Served on my earlier Institute’s “Internal transplant Committee”.• Authored many articles in local magazines on Human Organ and Body Donation to raise awareness regarding these among the people. Interpersonal and communication skills:Any Department works best in the form of a fist and when our digits are together working in conjunction with each other, we are most effective. Student connect:I am known for the faith my students have in me as a teacher as well as, as an individual. Many a student has found himself or herself sharing their problems with me. Administrative skills:• Studying various ways of implementing the new “competency based Undergraduate Curriculum” for the MBBS batch. • Member of board of studies in Pre-clinical subjects for MBBS as well as Dental College• NAAC coordinator for my Department helping my Institute achieve high ranking at the NAAC certification.• Active contributor in various capacities in the student’s extracurricular activities. I think all of the above has made me a complete anatomist, a sympathetic colleague and a positive co-worker.
