About William Van Horn

William A Van Horn, MD, the founder and medical director of The Way Institute, is a Diplomat of The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with over 30 years of experience as an expert in the treatment of neuropsychiatric illness. Dr. Van Horn had the privilege of completing his Fellowship in Geriatric Neuropsychiatry at Emory University, one of the premier institutions in the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. His passion is to provide excellence in medical care for all neuropsychiatric illness as well as the opportunity for true healing and restoration in an environment of God's love.Inspiration for the establishment of The Way Institute arose from Dr. Van Horn's attempt to find Christian based care for family members with PTSD and substance abuse. The field of psychiatry has progressively moved in a secular direction with medication often as the only treatment avenue. The availability of a comprehensive Christian option, addressing the medical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the patient, is essentially nonexistent for most families. The Way Institute is the answer for all families dealing with a loved one suffering from chronic depression, anxiety, PTSD, unresolved grief, substance abuse and the associated, debilitating neuropsychiatric issues. At The Way Institute, our patients receive state of the art medical care in a traditional outpatient setting or within our intensive outpatient program. Our Christ-centered therapy program has been validated over 30 years to be effective in replacing destructive thoughts and feelings with emotions consistent with the peace, joy and love of GOD. Our medication approach is to restore healthy neurotransmitter balance with safe non-addicting medications. We address substance abuse as a medical, psychological, developmental, social and spiritual issue. Our program goals are to uncover and resolve the core issues underlying the psychiatric and addiction problems. The Way Institute is the only program where both the medical needs and a significant aspect of therapy are provided by the medical staff. Dr. Van Horn's extensive involvement and commitment to each person's care insure you and your loved ones receive a comprehensive, personal treatment approach enabling the best possible outcome.
