Associate Professor Victoria Kain is a neonatal nursing expert scholar and clinician, a highly specialised field at the intersection of nursing and midwifery. She founded and co-edits Australia and New Zealand's first neonatal textbook for nurses and midwives, published by Elsevier. Authoring 6/25 chapters in the 1st edition (2018), and 12/25 chapters in the 2nd (2022), it is the core text for most neonatal and midwifery curricula in Australia and New Zealand.Victoria has made a significant contribution to neonatal nursing as a member of the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand's Board of Directors and a current member of the Journal of Neonatal Nursing's Editorial Board. She has been invited to speak at the National Neonatal Nurse Practitioner conferences of the Academy of Neonatal Nurses in the United States in 2018 and 2019, and teaches newborn care in Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. She is a guest associate editor (neonatology) for the Q1 Frontiers in Pediatrics journal.Victoria has a strong international reputation in research, producing nine ERA-eligible outputs per year on average. Her current Scopus h-index is 15 and her Google Scholar h-index is 19. Her research focuses on neonatal palliative care and neonatal care in resource-limited settings. Her current work focuses on post-pandemic case studies and situational analyses of the American Academy of Paediatrics' Helping Babies Breathe program in Vietnam. The Laerdal Foundation awarded her a competitive grant in 2022 to conduct this important research.Victoria is a Visiting Professor at Thai, Japanese and Taiwanese universities.A Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy (York, UK), Victoria has led baccalaureate nursing programs at two universities, demonstrating strong leadership abilities. In recognition, the Institute of Leadership at the Australian College of Nursing has awarded her a scholarship to complete the Leader's Mindset Series program in 2022.
