As a family physician and advocate for integrative health, my career has been dedicated to the pursuit of whole-person healthcare delivery, an approach that puts the patient at the center of their care. This journey has culminated in my latest work, Healing and Cancer: A Guide to Whole Person Care, co-authored with Alyssa McManamon, MD. Our book emphasizes the importance of understanding and treating patients as whole beings, addressing their emotional, psychological, and social needs along with their physical health. It reflects my belief and commitment that effective cancer care must extend beyond the traditional focus on disease eradication to embrace the full spectrum of human needs. With my experience at the Healing Works Foundation and the NIH Office of Alternative Medicine, I have been privileged to witness and contribute to transformative changes in healthcare.
