I believe that our stories as humans matter. In our day to day experiences, we all hold little pieces of information about how the world works for us and for other people. Many of these stories, containing what we know and how we feel, are buried within volumes of text we share online, in what we write and in what we say in conversations.My passion is to engage with people to encourage them to share their stories and to develop skills in working with these stories at scale, not just one or ten stories but hundreds to thousands of stories of our successes and failures, as real people living and working in an uncertain world. My day to day work is in text analytics and modelling to make sense of and redesign the exchanges we have with each other to turn these into useful information for us to make sense of and act on.It's a bit like a positive version of forensics, using the DNA of systems to seek out patterns in big complex issues to help improve the next choices made about the design of challenging systems like health services, water utilities, corporate buildings, frontline jobs or as a support to mentoring our emerging leaders.I love anticipating what is happening next in the world of 'intractable' problems real time using stories, text and other tools and putting them into the design mix. My aim is to make the world a better place one story at a time.
