I’ve dedicated my professional life to preparing not only myself but also children, parents, educators, and learners of all ages for a rapidly evolving, globalized world in which teaching and learning at all ages will prepare our citizens to be competitive in a global economy. As we embrace technology as a staple in our society, it is access to ubiquitous digital learning that will allow all learners to thrive in the globalized 21st century workplace. Early in my career, had amazing opportunity to be a leader in the field of digital learning through not only, academic research but also professional/practioner experiences. After working with a phenomenal team to found and lead the State of Tennessee’s first online learning program for students, e4TN, where I was honored to receive multiple USDLA awards and grow the program 800% in six years, I chose to enter the private sector. My goal with this transition was to become a more well-rounded professional by understanding both the private and public sector. My passion continues with academic research relating to assessment and digital education to include comparing traditional and online student performance. Most recently I have engaged in a state-wide analysis to create a Lean Methodology for personalized learning, including academic, social and instructional impacts in online and face-to-face environments. I have also authored two softwares to evalaute digital instructional practices.Recently, I find that my experience has come full circle, as I lead initiatives to develp digital products such as game-based assessments, virtual reality and augmented reality learning experiences and a skill ledger using blockchain. My personal mission is to harness the power of technology to create innovative learning opportunities for all learners.
