Using an improvement science approach, my role was to support district health teams in improving health systems aimed at providing quality of health care services for end users.

Through using an improvement science approach, my role was to participate in the planning and implementation of male circumcision activities in 15 districts of northern Uganda aimed at providing safe, quality services for HIV prevention.

I provided technical leadership in work planning , budgeting, allocation and management of funds for male circumcision service provision in 15 districts of northern Uganda.Monitoring male circumcision activities in 15 districts and ensuring that they conformed to the Ministry of health policy and guidelines on quality assurance.Building capacity of health facilities in northern Uganda for providing male circumcision services in 15 districts of northern through training, support supervision, sustained vital logistical support and viable communication systems (e.g. through prompt reporting)Writing periodic program reports which were then incorporated into the overall project report.Conducting periodic technical review and planning meetings with project stakeholders.

Managerial;My initial major role was to help merge health staff from the merger of the international medical centers (IMCs) and private owners of Charis health center into team. The vision of this merger was to transform this health facility from a level III to a level IV community hospital with the capacity to provide emergency obstetric care. Subsequently, I was responsible for identifying required inputs and changes that would enable this transformation occur smoothly such as identifying appropriate lab space, client waiting areas to ensure efficient flow, in-patient arrangement, clinician rotas, and coordination of clinician and nurse roles.Administration;Identifying required equipment (such as laboratory, maternity, surgical) make rational requisition and ensure their proper functionality. In addition, I was jointly responsible with the center admin assistant) for the management of company resources, collection, analysis and reporting of revenues generated daily and day to day running of the health facility.Clinical;As head clinician my overall roles included ensuring that patients/clients promptly attended to and managed in line with the recommended Ministry of health and IMC guidelines/protocols for patient care and management. It was my responsibility to offer on job support and mentoring of all junior clinical staff (Clinical officers, Nurses).Clinical duties included providing general medical, obstetric, gynecologic, surgical, and pediatric consultation/care.Community health service;Led facility staff in providing outreach Primary Health Care (PHC) services of immunization (children under five years, pregnant women), Anthelmintic prophylaxis, antenatal care, health education, nutrition assessment for children under five years, treatment of minor illnesses. This was made possible through a conditional quarterly PHC grant from the central government for which I accounted to the Lira district health office.
