About Wesley D. Marner Ii

I'm passionate about improving our world and breaking down barriers - and that work has taken many forms over my career. It started with a burning interest in engineering and using it to tackle some of the biggest challenges we face. Over time, though, I realized that my real passion was opening doors for youth, and enabling full participation by those who haven't always felt welcome in STEM. I believe that anywhere we can work together to facilitate others to reach their full potential, we have a chance to amplify our impact far beyond what we could simply achieve on our own. I am an experienced program manager and laboratory manager with a demonstrated history of managing scientific programs, maintaining relationships in private-sector collaborations, and effectively coordinating scientific communications programs. My current role emphasizes:1) Relationship building with community partners throughout Wisconsin in ways that link the public with our state’s scientific enterprise.2) Leading a team that manages a robust volunteer program, coordinates outreach programs serving thousands of visitors annually, and manages teaching laboratories in the Discovery Building.3) Providing operational leadership for Discovery Outreach, focusing on proper deployment of department resources to meet program requirements and creating sustainable, efficient work processes.

Listed skills include Protein Expression, Metabolic Engineering, Experimental Design, Synthetic Biology, and 12 others.
