My singular passion? It's a toss-up between mathematics and physics. I completed my PhD in Mathematics at the University of Utah, studying theoretical mathematics. My field of research, which lies at the intersection of geometry and algebra, is called geometric group theory. This experience has engaged my intellectual curiosities, taught me valuable mathematical theories, and given me the tools to quickly understand and integrate complex ideas.After a 6 month postdoc at The Fields Institute in Toronto, I joined the University of Arkansas in their Mathematics Department for a 3 year position as a postdoctoral researcher. There, I honed my communication skills in the classroom and experimented with novel teaching methods: students learned to write Python code to explore mathematical ideas and connections, they were evaluated using standards based grading (SBG), and I used a flipped classroom model for education.I am currently working to hone my skills in software development, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and improving my base skill set. I find myself most comfortable at the interface of machine learning models, geometry, and topology, e.g., geometric interpretations of model features. Outside of my intellectual and professional interests, I enjoy getting lost in the mountains.
