Working on Figma’s internal design system, the Figma Pattern Library (FPL), to make it more scalable, easy-to-use, and more accessible.

Worked on improving Trunk’s TypeScript DX and frontend experience.

Created and implemented a custom design system to meet the needs of a complex, scalable AI product. Also architected & established best practices for frontend, and created the OSS openapi-fetch in the process for type-safe, lightning-fast data fetching for the new frontend.

Led Snyk’s frontend efforts along with the other design engineers and Staff Frontend engineers. Architected design token tooling using W3C Design Tokens spec and bolstered test setup with Playwright + Storybook Visual Regression Testing. Co-creator of Astro and Employee #1 at the Astro Technology Co. Fred started the company by hiring me, and I launched Skypack, ran the first (and last) ESM conference in the COVID era, and wrote the initial architecture, styling engine, and bundler for Astro. When Astro launched we saw the quickest adoption of a new language to GitHub (.astro) as well as a 10k GitHub star meteoric rise in mere months!Besides Astro, I co-wrote Snowpack that was the most successful bundler after webpack and before Vite (which built off Snowpack’s work and even depended on it in version 0.x, and Evan You credited Snowpack in the first-ever Vite Conf). I also co-managed Astro’s growing dev community, and also co-branded / co-designed Astro’s initial website, docs, and launch material.

Led React.js and Web Component projects for a Series A startup that was later acq. by Snyk. Also got to start the popular OSS project openapi-typescript while here.

One stop shop for design, fullstack dev, and deploying SMB sites like mamas-sauce.com and lineageroasting.com. Also did some light consulting. I did it all for the smile on the client’s face and to see the twinkle in their eyes. And money.

As a small Rails/web app consultancy I would concept, advise, and build web apps of all shapes and sizes for various industries often on a team of 2 engineers per-project. We worked with SMBs to deliver software that did everything to open new sales channels, increase operational efficiency (one doubled!), expand their product line, take in-person services online, and more. Of the dozens of projects and businesses I worked with I would play the role of frontend architect, design support, and sometimes project architect.

I could sling up a mean custom WordPress theme and integrate jQuery UI + Twitter Bootstrap like nobody’s business.

I made websites for free. And my school got paid. HOORAY
