Assists the Battalion S3 in developing long range training plans in 1st Battalion, 109th Infantry. Directly involved in analysis, planning, programming, conducting, and supervision of Battalion operations and training. Prepares estimates, plans and orders. Develops yearly and longer training plans. Provides guidance and assistance to unit commanders or other training personnel to improve the quality of training and to ensure compliance with directives. Serves as the TOC battle captain in accordance with operating procedures. Collaboratively plans with higher headquarters and adjacent units. Performs other duties as required.

Responsible for the health and welfare of the Scout Platoon in 3-103 AR, 55 ABCT, 28th ID. Responsible to maintain high level of personnel, training, logistical and maintenance readiness. Maximizes technical and tactical proficiency of Platoon members for Stability/Support, High Intensity Conflict and State Emergency Operations. Advises the commander as to proper employment of the Scout Platoon. Provides reconnaissance, over watch and tactical support for the battalion as directed by the Battalion S3 and Battalion Commander.
