Working on Fintech projects at NatWest, main project is realtime Foreign Exchange (FX) trading systems for the Agile Markets platform - lead developer and team lead on a set of complex trading tickets using various APIs and streaming data feeds over websockets.Initial work was taking over a set of Angular 1 trading apps and bug fixing to get them into production. I then lead a mixed onshore/offshore dev/QA team in a rewrite of the apps in ES6 / React / Redux to improve performance, increase test coverage and give them a more manageable modular architecture. The rewrite improved code quality & development speed and massively reduced defect rates.

Ran global Ad Operations for Phorm, an innovative online advertising start-up that specialised in behavioural targeting. Member of senior management team, involved in commercial & product strategy and investor & partner relations. My team had 2 main areas of responsibility:• Ad Operations - During pre-launch period acting as the main stakeholders in the development of the Open Internet Exchange (OIX), specifying features, testing developed software and giving feedback on usability and commercial issues. After launch handling the client management, trafficking and reporting for advertiser campaigns across all live countries and running targeting segmentation research across all live countries. • Behavioural Targeting Segmentation & Analysis - Built an extensive range of Behavioural Targeting segments using a team of multi-lingual researchers across UK, Korea & Brazil Along with this I was also heavily involved in the product development of Phorm's ad systems, the exchange product (OIX) and it's consumer facing personalised news & content systems PhormDiscover, during which I built the initial proof-of-concept keyword management system for the Discover content recommendation system using Ruby on Rails.

Ran the Ad Technology team at Yahoo! Europe, an international multi-disciplinary team of designers, frontend/backend developers and ad system specialists. Collaborated with senior management of editorial, sales and marketing to drive incremental ad revenue. Frequent presenter at industry events on online ad technology and ad ops practices. Sat on several IAB special interest groups. The team won an Elite Performer: Outstanding Team award and I also received the individual Yahoo! Star award during my time at Yahoo!The team had responsibility for 3 main areas:• Homepage Events: Managing creative concepts, development and deployment of custom ad events on the Yahoo! homepage across Europe – the most expensive property in the Yahoo! network. The Team became a key driver in making the Y! homepage a multi-million pound revenue stream in Europe. Designed and built pan-european events that had up to 20 million impressions in a single day for clients such as Apple, Nike, Warner Brothers. The team developed a battle-hardened JavaScript framework in-house to run events with the code running billions of times a year.• Custom Ad Formats & Advertorial: Developing custom ad formats, advertorial and microsites for top tier Yahoo! advertisers such as Warner Brothers, Apple, Nike, Phillips, Vodafone, Swatch, Sony and Adidas. The team was heavily involved in the sales process, working closely with the European sales teams and clients to provide pitch-winning creative concepts that pushed the boundaries of the media.
