About David Semple
I am currently a PhD student in Immunology at the University of Leicester on the MRC AIM DTP. I am working on an exciting joint project with the University of Birmingham to advance our understanding of lung immunity to tuberculosis (TB). My research focuses on defining the impact of T cell activation on the protective and migratory capacity of mucosal CD4+ T cells in TB infection.With a background in Medical Physiology (MBiolSci), I have developed expertise in infection and immunity, including experience with cutting-edge techniques such as spatial transcriptomics, immunohistology, flow cytometry, and bioinformatics. My project bridges in vitro and in vivo models, and is part of a multi-million Euro international consortium aimed at driving innovation in TB vaccine development.I’m passionate about contributing to scientific research that addresses global health challenges and am eager to continue learning and collaborating with others in the fields of immunology and vaccine development.
