CurrentMy passion - bringing the construction industry together for collaborative dialogue on tough topics! One of the key activities at DSH Consulting is teaching the Canadian Construction Association Construction 101 Course across the country. The course has met with resounding success to help the construction industry make their staff productive members of their team. With a comprehensive education background learning has been at the core of my career. As former President of the Southern Interior Construction Association in BC for 22 years, liaising with the buyers of construction services, architects, engineers and contractors in advocacy and education brings a solid base to my expertise. In addition, experience as the owner representative for the construction of the new Clubhouse for the Kelowna Yacht Club provided additional perspective. Through these experiences and teaching techniques, I am able to bring both knowledge and interaction to the classroom – an ideal education environment. My teaching service has recently included the newly mandated Ethics course for Gold Seal Certification. It is meeting with excellent receptiveness as the industry reinforces the importance of the core ethical values of: transparency, honesty, trust, fairness and integrity.Other significant consulting activities include:- Creation and presentation of brochure "Standardization of Construction Specifications and Contract Language - A Better Deal for Taxpayers" for the Canadian Civil Infrastructure Council- Development and delivery of the "Calgary OAEC (Owner, Architect, Engineers, Contractor) Annual Collaboration Workshops" from 2013-2017 (5 years)- Development and facilitation of "Optimizing the Flow of Money" Workshops for the Alberta Construction Association- Co-facilitated with Kees Cusveller the Workshop on "Non-Standard Contract Clauses - Can You Afford to Ignore Them?" hosted by Alberta Construction Association
