The company was founded by Intel and Facebook engineers who were core to solving difficult scaling and infrastructure challenges and built technology such as Hive, Cassandra, SCUBA, and Scribe. Led the engineering organization through a major shift from running as a Managed Services Company to cloud-based packaged software company, a restructuring of the team, and a new financing.Implemented process improvements including quarterly OKRs, a revamped Code Review process, and new story point estimating processes. In conjunction with Product leadership, this allowed Interana to reduce downtime and critical incidents by more than 50%, reduced release rollout intervals by more than 30%, and implement more customer-driven roadmap features.

Coded the initial implementation, and acted as product lead during the early years of Technorati's growth. Brought on a crack executive leadership team that brought the company world-class engineers and marketers, and enabled the company to compete and succeed against the titans in the technology sector. Built an enduring brand that is still strongly associated today with innovation and the best in social media.

Handle worked on solving the information overload problem. Helped define the product set, test assumptions with users, recruit and manage some of the best people in the world and developed their skills to build great products. In just over a year, I helped the leadership team to fundamentally re-think their cost structure and technical architecture, recruited a fabulous team, invented and built with an that product and engineering team a fully decentralized set of consumer internet products for iOS and the web that got featured by Apple's App store for months, resulting in over 100,000 downloads. Was responsible for managing the capital cost structures so that as the user base grew, the company continued to scale, and continued to innovate at scale. When it was time to scale back the company due to financing issues, worked with the CEO/Founder to implement a rational scale-back plan.

As founding CTO, helped the company define and build its core lines of business, close major deals and partnerships, and grow from 3 people to over 480 people in a period spanning 18 months.

Designed and built GUI tools to help factory managers in control rooms at steel mills, nuclear power plants, and hydroelectric power stations get the most up-to-date, real-time information on the current status of their factories. As the first non-Japanese in 17 years to work in the Kobe factory of 4,800 people, provided cultural exchange with Japanese engineers and managers, and mentored new recruits.
